The Carnatarian Philosophy
Duke Guapo’s Spicy Meat Hut is not just the only restaurant featuring an all-meat menu. Our business model is the embodiment of our oft repeated mantra, Aggressive Carnatarianism. A complete discussion of our carnatarian philosophies is beyond the scope of this page, but we want to give a brief overview.
Abelard Carmichael originally felt that pro-vegetable propaganda was leading to meals including excessively large proportions of vegetables on the plate. In the early years of his evangelism, Dr. Carmichael took meals with approximately 20% vegetable content. However, after enduring a near-fatal illness brought on by allowing a rusty nail to remain embedded in his foot for three weeks, Dr. Carmichael concluded that “vegetable buggery” had made him weak. At that point, Aggressive Carnatarianism was born. Men were to take in no vegetables, as plant matter was thought to diminish manliness. Women, being the weaker sex, were still recommended to take meals with 20% vegetable content. This outlook was reflected in Duke Guapo’s women’s only vegetable side dishes, which were served until 1982, when an outcry by feminist groups led us to convert the to an all-meat restaurant to maintain the integrity of our carnatarian underpinnings.
After the Civil War, Dr. Carmichael moved back to Bramble Brook and purchased a large plot of land in the country side. There, he began the important work of refining the carnatarian philosophy. After marrying his beloved Betsy, Dr. Carmichael was known to steal away to a solitary shack on his property near a large rock formation (picture to the right) to do his writing and thinking. It is said that Dr. Carmichael achieved some of his greatest carnatarian revelations in the Cave of Secrets behind his writing shack, which he would explore as he engaged in deep thought.
The Carmichael descendants and many followers have further developed the philosphy. Abelard Carmichael’s writings continue to be studied, in a search for further meat enlightenment. We constantly seek new weapons in the war against rampant vegetarianism. Help us support this cause by dining at our restaurants.
